My Big News: A New Chapter
By: Laurie Davis, Founder
There’s a dirty little secret that none of you know: for the past year and a half, I’ve been dating. No, not that kind of relationship; you know I’ve got my man. I’ve been flirting with an idea.
When I started eFlirt Expert, my mission was simple: help singles avoid digital dating disasters and find love. Today, we have hundreds of happy clients, countless relationships, five marriages and even two babies. We touch singles’ lives on a very real level, one profile, text, or tweet at a time.
With only 24 hours in the day, there are only so many singles I can work with at one time on a personal level. But I still hear all of your dating frustrations via Twitter, at dinner parties, on Facebook and during conferences. And these struggles are not always yours alone; they’re the pain points of your 55-year-old aunt who just went through a divorce, your brother working towards his undergraduate degree who keeps striking out and your friend, who’s starting to hear her clock tick tock for the first time. When it comes down to it, I want to help more people — but there’s only so much time to do so.
So I flirted with an idea that would allow me to also reach your aunt, brother and friend. I found an amazing matchmaker for the concept, and like any good dater, worked hard to remain true to myself. Initially, my heart got broken a few times, so I took a breather from dates for a while. But earlier this month, I decided to put on my little black dress and strut my stuff again. Suddenly, all the guys wanted my number — yes! But one man fell hard quickly, and just yesterday, asked me to be exclusive.
Today I’m proud to announce that I’m in a long-term relationship with Simon & Schuster. My book will be published by Atria and edited by Amy Tannenbaum, who previously worked on Patti Stanger’s Become Your Own Matchmaker. An exact pub date is still TBD, but you can expect to see me in book form on shelves in early 2013. Combining tales of real life dating hilarity in a sharp, narrative style with tangible advice you can integrate directly into your own eFlirting life, my book will offer the online dating guidelines you’ve always needed.
But first, let’s celebrate! Turn up the volume and jam out to my personal Spotify playlists (which I’ll be creating chapter by chapter), starting of course with number one. Let the writing commence!
UPDATE: My book now has a title and approximate pub date! You can look for Love At First Click: The Ultimate Guide to Online Dating on shelves February 2013.
